We made one out of wood. It had three pieces on the bottom- 2 long and one small strip in the center that was almost 7 inch wide, so when you folded the table on itself, it formed the bottom panel.  The sides were 2x4s and each side had a "gate" in the center that would fold back in, towards the table out of the way and make room center fold when it was being closed. This was the only difference form a regular stable table- there was a hinge that I did not hide as the robot went along the wall. Our robot never did that, so it never mattered to us.  The pros was it was easy enough to put up and down.We added handles & latches to the outside and used a router for the hinges so they were hidden. We made ours out of plywood for longevity. because the center was roughly 7" tall, we didn't have to take down all the elements each time- about 1/3 could remain, and every little bit helps when you have to set the table up each time.  Con, it was very heavy made entirely out of wood, and adults had to lift and transport it. It was not something the student could do by themselves. But it met our concern of not warping! And certainly has longevity on it's side. It costs about $80 three years ago, and we bought everything from the screws to the latches. Nothing was donated or given to us for the project.

Sonya,

My team used the stow and go table last year and we plan on using it again this year. I had a team of 7th & 8th graders who could remember to be careful with it, though. It could get dented and I'm not sure how we would fix it if that happened. However, it was a great practice table and works well in my relatively small house (it stores in a very small space). It also is super lightweight which is fantastic if you need to move it.

Hello friends,
Has anyone used the stow and go portable practice table designed by the Inventioneers team?

If so, can you share your feedback on it?  Did you use it as your main practice table, and did it function just as the tournament tables, without any surprises or differences once you got to the competition?  I am mostly interested in knowing if it really is equivalent to using a full size table.

Many thanks!
