I wouldn't stress too much.  We typically order ours a little late.  We start our season working on project research, and working towards a topic.  We also work on team building - especially with new team members in the mix.  The entire season is not the robot game, so I make sure I instill that appreciation in my team early on. We are about three meetings in, and haven't done much more than mention the robot.

Remember the last core value, and don't forget to have fun!

Laura,

That is a shame. But you can have a productive team meeting without
the field kit. For example, it can be very productive to have a
meeting that focuses on robot construction, programming, strategy,
driving, etc., without the distraction of solving the individual table
puzzles. If the team is new, they could begin constructing the robot
or learning to drive it in strategic ways. If they are experienced and
already have a working robot, they could try to knock out their
research project planning.

Good luck getting the kit!

I am disappointed as I have a team meeting this Saturday- they told me there was nothing I could do. Laura
