To any teams who receive invitations to participate in the Virginia-DC FLL Championship tournament at Harrisonburg, the best advice that I have for you is to sit tight and wait for the welcome email that will show up in the next two weeks. It will have information about the schedule, discount lodging, and extra activities.
Or, you can go to the archives of this list. There is some stuff posted there from previous years.
Here's the outline for the Championship:
All judging sessions will be on Saturday this year at JMU's Memorial Hall. This is a change from previous years.
Typically Division 1 teams are judged in the morning, and Division 2 teams in the afternoon. (NoVA teams with TJ candidates--don't panic. We'll coordinate with TJ and ensure that your team is judged in the late afternoon block. Many, many students have done this successfully in past years.)
JMU puts on science activities--for team members only--both mornings and afternoons when you aren't in judging. Information about available activities and how to sign up will be in the tournament information message. Requests for activities signups will be due the week of Thanksgiving, so be forewarned.
Sunday will be Robot Performance day at Harrisonburg High School. Some teams may be requested to attend judging callbacks as well. Teams are notified of callback requests by phone Saturday evening, or during check-in on Sunday.
We'll have 216 robot matches overall on Sunday, so we won't get to the awards ceremony until late afternoon, but everything is over and cleaned up by dinner time.
