The NASA Wallops Flight Facility is holding a 70th Anniversary Open House on Saturday, June 27th from 10am to 4pm.  This is the 70th anniversary of the first rocket launch from NASA Wallops.  It promises to be an exciting day, with a wide variety of activities, presentations, and exhibits including static aircraft displays, a robotics demonstration, the U.S. Navy’s Top 40 Band and other entertainment, mission area tours (Range Control, Scientific Balloons, Sounding Rockets, and Engineering Labs), and model rocket launches.

For more information on the event please see <http://www.nasa.gov/content/wallops-flight-facility-70th-anniversary>.

** The robotics demonstration will include exhibits for the FIRST programs (Jr.FLL, FLL, FTC, and FRC) as well as VEX Robotics.  If you are thinking about going to the Open House AND you are an FLL Coach or team parent, please let me know if you and possibly some of your team members are able to spend some time with us at the Open House answering questions from the public about FLL and demonstrating your robot while sharing your project.  We would be overjoyed to have you join us!

Regardless of whether you are able to lend a hand with FLL outreach, please consider coming to the Open House and celebrating the June 27, 1945 first launch at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.  The facility does not have a physical address, but it is near the Virginia-Maryland line on the Eastern Shore (you can look up driving directions online).

Anyone interested should contact Dana Aucoin ([log in to unmask]).

Thanks,
Karen
