Kathy,
The Virginia state tournament is always the first weekend in December because that is when the sponsoring university, JMU, is available.
Therefore, all the regional tournaments must be completed before the first weekend in December.
I know it is difficult for rookie teams, this is my 4th season coaching, and it is tough for my team, too!
But everyone has the same time constraint, so there is an equity to it.
Your team can always use the remainder of December to polish their project in preparation for entering the USPTO contest.
And, you can eat your turkey without stressing over FLL!

We are s rookie team (and coach/parents), is November our only first round option?   We don't feel we will be ready for a November competition.   Just wondering if December will be another option for our first official tournament.
