I hadn’t opened my EV3 software over the summer but had some time over the weekend to review the software.  At some point since last season, LEGO has posted a complete updated version of the software.  You might check it out before the season gets going.  You can get to the link by clicking on “check for updates” - that will take you directly to the LEGO education website where you can select the appropriate installation package.  The Mac link was: https://education.lego.com/en-gb/educationdownloads/download?assetid=%7bC955F8B9-61E4-4719-8020-A8FFA0EB0DBF%7d – I’m not sure if it will work by sending it directly but give it a shot.
