This has been a very interesting discussion.  I haven't seen it come up elsewhere yet.

First, and very importantly, although it might be easy to "attach" the White Gecko to the Robot, it may not be allowed.

R11 Mission Model Handling, bullet 2 says:

  • If you combine a Mission Model with something (including the Robot), the combination must be loose enough that if asked to do so, you could pick the Mission Model up and nothing else would come with it. 

Certainly there are many ways to a robot to carry the Gecko without them being so tightly attached as to violate R11, but this is something to remember to check for.  Don't let your team's mission solutions combine mission models with anything else so tightly that they cannot easily separate as described in R11.
On to the main discussion point.  The scoring requirements for M05 Biomimicry are

EXACT SCORING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Visible at the end of the match: The Biomimicry Wall completely supports:

    o All the weight of the White Gecko: 15 Points

    o All the weight of the Robot: 32 Points

  • More: For an object to score, no part of it may be in contact with anything but the Biomimicry Wall and/or Green Gecko, except two scoring objects may be in contact with each other

M05 requires the wall to support the *weight* of the Gecko.  In the scenario where the robot is hanging on the wall and the Gecko is hanging on the robot, the weight of the Gecko is transmitted through the Robot, through the Wall down to the mat.  There is no other object that transmits any of the weight of the Gecko to the mat, so I'd be inclined to agree with a team that made a case that they should get all 47 points for M05.

Maybe that's using a definition from Physics class, rather than the common conversational meaning (GP2), but I could be convinced that it deserves Benefit of the Doubt.
