Disclaimer - I'm a coach, not a ref.  My answers are my interpretation of the rules and could very well be wrong.

There is no restriction on how much food you can transport at a time.  Scoring conditions are at the end of the match only.

I would be wary of a closed container.  I can't find it in the rules (did it go away?), but that feels to me like you're attaching something to your robot, which in the past has not been allowed.  Like I said, I don't see anything prohibiting a closed container, but I would probably advise my team to steer clear of such a solution (though now, I'm wondering about that).

This one might require a more official answer, but I believe that the answer is no.  There is no "junk" penalty this year, which (IMHO) means that you can leave things on the board.  The only part I'm not sure about is the nature of the container.  If the food is sitting in the container, which is in the feeding area, would it score?  Technically the food is not touching the mat, but the rule doesn't say it has to be touching the mat... just in the circle.  I would argue yes, but I'd be interested to hear other coaches/ref's interpretations there.
