During an FLL tournament each team is assigned a pit area to be their home base where they can work, eat, store things, and so on.  It is separate from the Competition Area, although it may be close by.

There are no exceptions to the four motor limit during matches.

It doesn't matter if extra motors are unplugged.
It doesn't matter if extra motors are just for weight.
It doesn't matter if extra motors are just for decoration.
It doesn't matter if extra motors are just for good luck.
It doesn't matter if extra motors are in reserve in case one of the allowed four motors gets melted by a laser.

A team that has more than four motors at a match will be treated as if they did not want a score for that round.

Hi,
We are a rookie team. Reading the R03-Motors (page 17 of challenge guide) – States - ALL other motors must be left in the Pit Area for that Match, no exceptions.

Question 1: What is “Pit Area” ??

Question 2: If only four motors of any type is allowed ? Does this mean in any circumstances fifth motor cannot be on the robot even if it is not hooked up to the controller
