I hope everyone is staying safe and dry.  Since the season is Animal Allies, I feel like it's appropriate to say that it's raining cats and dogs outside my house right now! 

I just want to send out a reminder that the VA-DC FLL Registration system will close at midnight, October 10th.  Please make sure that all information has been updated by that time.  This includes:
- Team name
- Team members (make sure that all are included and have correct birthdays.  This will ensure that you are placed in the correct division and that there are enough supplies at your event for your entire team).
- Tournament preferences - remember that assignments are made on a first-come, first-serve basis and some tournaments have been very popular, especially 3rd weekend events...  While we do our best to get teams into their first choices, we cannot guarantee that and there will be teams this year that we may not be able to place into any of their top three choices.

If you have not paid, please remember that payment is due October 10 as well.
 
If you do not plan to compete, please let us know so that we don't spend time trying to track you down.  You can indicate this on the registration system or email me and let me know.

Tournament selection will open Saturday, October 1st at 10:00am and will close at Midnight October 10th.  In order to successfully register for a tournament your team needs to complete all of the below steps.

Please keep in mind that while you are able to view the tournament schedule you will NOT be able to register for a tournament until October 1st.  You will be able to find the tournament schedule here.  

A few things to consider when reviewing the tournament schedule:
  1. You must complete your registration with FIRST before registering with VA/DC FIRST LEGO League.
  2. Once you have registered with FIRST make sure you have completed the VA/DC FIRST LEGO League registration process and provide all up to date information.  If you have not completed this step you will need either create, or log into your team manager account and provide your teams updated information.

    • If you are a new team and have not already done so, please create an account here.
  3. Once you have created your team management account with VA/DC FIRST LEGO League you will need to decide method of payment for the VA/DC FIRST LEGO League registration fee.  If you choose to pay with credit card, you can pay here.

VA-DC FLL REGIONAL REGISTRATION PROCESS:
To help expedite this registration process, VA-DC FLL teams can start this registration process now.  Go to http://www.va-dcfll.org/teams/start-register-a-team/ and go to Part 3.  There are 4 steps and a confirmation email will be sent after the completion of each step.
1. Enter FLL team information (team name, national FLL team number, coach contact info, etc.).  FLL team MUST be registered with FIRST for the 2016 Animal Allies season before registering with the VA-DC FLL Region.  FIRST will issue the FLL team number.  To register with FIRST, go to: https://my.firstinspires.org/AccountManager/Account/Register
2. Pay the $125 VA-DC FLL Regional Registration Fee (due by 10/10/2016).  Make sure to use your FLL National Registration number.  Options for payment include:
a. Credit card online payment: An additional $2.50 credit card processing fee will be charged with this option.  Go to: 
b. Pay by check: Send a check for $125 to the address below. Be sure to include your team number on the check so that it can be correctly credited. Multiple payments may be included in the same check, but each team numbers must be indicated.
c. Pay by purchase order: Purchase orders are acceptable from any VA or DC school system. Send your purchase order to the address below. Be sure to include your team number on the PO so that it can be correctly credited. Multiple payments may be included in the same PO, but each team numbers must be indicated. 3. Enter team member information (team member name, date of birth, etc.). Date of birth determines the team’s VA-DC FLL division – please be accurate and complete 
4. Regional Qualifying Tournament Preference Selection (pick 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice). This final step (selection of tournaments) will not be available until October 1st.  Assignments are based on a first-come, first-serve basis based on tournament selection so starting registration now will not guarantee your preference but does give you ample time to collect team member information ahead of time.
You will be able to come back and make updates/changes as needed until the end of the registration period on October 10th.  We will send out reminders when we get close to the opening of the regional tournament selection portion.
