If you have a larger team, a parent per child is a lot to have in the pits all day. The temptation to have hands on or to interfere with other activities is hard for many to resist, and this is a day for the kids.
I would say have some of your helpful parents around to take care of lunch and things like that, but limit the number actually underfoot. On some occasions we have had
so many adults at a table next to us that it was difficult for our kids AND coaches to talk and work. There is lots of space in the stands for parents to watch.

I've got a first year team that's competing next weekend. I'm trying to get a better feel for the logistics of tournament day. Do kids usually have at least one parent per kid hang out the whole day? It looks like the actual competitions are fairly closed, so parents won't be able to watch much. I guess it's more a question of whether my fellow coach and I want to be responsible for wrangling the team by ourselves all day. What do other people do? Thanks.
