For Pat's example, his picture shows 2 adjacent stacks (tan and red) each 8 Levels high in the red circle, with a Mission 13 Upgrade on top of both stacks.
The Upgrade does not force the stacks to combine into a single stack. It would have to be a Building Unit in order for that to happen.

10 points for the red Level 1 unit Completely in the Red Circle and Flat Down on the Mat
80 points for the combined heights of 16 from the red stack and the tan stack (each 8 high)
The interesting thing is Mission 13 and the Upgrade.
The Upgrade is Supported by the pair of stacks. The special definition of Supported in Rule 34 says that 100% of its weight is held up and kept from falling.
Mission 13 requires that the Upgrade is "Supported by a Stack" which is at least partly in a circle. Both the tan stack and the red stack are Completely In the red circle, so that's okay.
I would typically read the scoring criteria as saying that "a Stack" means a single Stack holding up the entire weight of the Upgrade. If I could determine that the Red stack was not bearing any of the weight, or if the team members could present a case that raised enough doubt in my mind about the meaning of the Mission criteria, then I would count the Upgrade (10 points). Otherwise, I probably would not count the Upgrade. Different referees could see this differently. In any case, the upgrade can only be counted once, since it cannot have 100% of its weight Supported by two separate Stacks.

Hello, our team members have different interpretations for the scoring with respect to the Figure 3, Mission 12 Design and build, Game guide.
Color match = red
Red stack = 2 levels
Other stack = 4 levels

For the other stack scoring, some feel that it should be 7 levels ( 3 white, 1 blue and 3 tan), whereas some feel that it should be 4 since the blue is shared across the white & tan stacks, which makes the stacks "not independent". I agree with the later interpretation, but wanted to be sure. Any clarifications would be greatly appreciated.
