The Engineering Notebooks and Team Meeting Guides are not required.  The only required parts are the Challenge project and robot game.

They were created to be especially helpful to teams and coaches who are new to FLL, and provide a framework to cover all the elements of a season.  Experienced coaches and teams may not use the meeting suggestions at all, or may borrow or adapt pieces to fit their teams' needs.

We have been participating in FLL for last two year. So the team has some experience with how to go about preparing for the competition.(robot run/project work).

With the new addition of "Team Meeting Guides and Engineering Notebooks" this year natural question -  how rigorously we have to follow them. Some of the ev3 programs in the engineering book are  simple and team is familiar with them. And follow up question - will  team be judged based on what they have done in Engineering Notebooks.

Please advice.
