Hi Karen

Yes, we are running a Division 1 and Division 2 system again.  A team is consider Division 1 when all of their members are between the ages for 9 and 11.  If the oldest member of the team has turned 12 by January 1st 2019, that team is then considered a Division 2 team.

Kaitlin, are we doing Division 1 and 2 this year? If so, what is the age cutoff for that?

Thanks,

Hi Beth

The age limit for FIRST LEGO League is 14.  While we can make exceptions for younger students, our registration system is pretty rigid when it comes to allowing any exceptions for older students.  If you have any more questions about the age limitations, please let me know.  I would be happy to help!

Subject: [VADCFLL-L] Age question

Hi all --

I am a brand new coach to a brand new team in DC and I suspect this may not be my last question so thank you in advance!

I saw on a Facebook group that you need to check with your region for the particular age rules. I looked on the VADCFLL website and didn't find it, but may have missed it. I just want to make sure I don't take someone and then have to turn them away because of age. I'm worried about the top end, I work with a 6-8 group and some of our Grade 8 students are older than others.

Thanks,

Beth
