Amit,
Totally agree! I was also thinking about a burnout for both the kids and the coach as well :) But i felt during the season the kids were always trying to complete a mission. There was no free play or exploration withing the robotic game setup as much as i wanted! Thats why i was thinking of an off season schedule where i can direct them to specific areas and it is completely up to them to have fun as well as freely explore stuff...

Hi Palani

It's always a good thought from a coach perspective to think this way, but I have seen that it causes a burnout and kids kind of start hating if we push them too hard. I have learn that 1 month before the kickoff has always been good for my team. Keep it light during the off season has been my mantra :)

Hello there,

We are a rookie team and we had a wonderful season. For our first season, the kids built a 3 wheel robot based on education set and then made their own changes. Programming wise mostly it is straight/curved paths. They used a gyro/color sensor for one mission.

I am planning to have a 2:30 hr sunday class for 3 or 4 months early next year. Any ideas for off season FLL classes? Should i ask them to try out different robot designs, starting from building few base models from websites, or use axles to make better attachments or advanced programming (line following & aligning using color sensor, gyro sensor and other sensors).

Any suggestions/help is appreciated. Thanks.
