Ditto, Fellow Coaches!  BIG THANK YOU to all who kept the FLL season going despite all the challenges that you turned into opportunities to learn, grow, innovate, stay connected and have fun.

It was all possible thanks to the hard work and flexibility of the VA-DC FLL team, sites hosts, judges and volunteers, coaches, parents and kids - all the players who make up this vibrant community of innovators.

Thank you for the great season, ALL!

We want to echo our sincere thanks to all who made the regional and state tournaments happen and run so smoothly that it felt like they had always been done that way!

We did not get to thank the amazing folks at Maggie Walker who really made our first regional virtual tournament fun!  The kids had no idea what to expect at that point and the virtual greeters in the room beforehand made it all ok.  The judges at regionals who gave the kids positive feedback while they were still in the rounds was something I had never seen before and it gave the kids GREAT recognition for their hard work and was clearly very thoughtful!

At state, we loved getting to see the projects and about the teams in the virtual pits and loved watching the robot rounds in the showcase.  The judges were very kind and made the kids feel comfortable even across the digital divide.  The head ref was very responsive and took great time with the kids when they had a question.

And making it all happen were the VA-DC FLL core group.  Thank you Kaitlyn and Karen and all of you who worked so hard at VA-DC FLL!

We appreciate you!

I would like to echo what Skip has said and give a huge shout out to all those who worked so hard to pull off this season in such a strange time. Every team that chose to compete this year (and we by no means fault those of you who didn't!!) faced challenges unlike any other season, students and coaches alike. And no one more than the VA/DC tournament coordinators and volunteers who had to pull off their usual magic while also navigating technology.

Thank you for everything you did to give these teams a successful season!

Next year we all have to work solely with our weak hands. Throwing COVID in the mix just wasn't enough of a challenge this year, so I declare that next year we will all be forced to build the robots, type our powerpoints, edit our videos and send emails only with our weak hands. Or maybe our feet and/or noses.

Seriously, what a great job the VA-DC volunteers did! My team had a great time, and we simply could not have done that without the awesome volunteers. Thanks!!!

And a BIG congratulations to all of the award winners at the championship. Thanks for keeping it challenging :)

Same for all the other teams that made it to the regional championship but did not take home any awards. You guys all very much deserve a big round of applause for representing the brightest young adults in the state!

Can't wait for next year. Anyone wanna take bets the theme has something to do with community health?
