Hey,
I'm not a ref, but there was a challenge update that addresses this:CLARIFICATION 03 – MISSION REQUIREMENTS – Certain missions (Missions 03, 08, 12, 14, & 15) include requirements that Energy Units or Looped Water Units may not be touching team equipment at the end of the match to score. This applies only to those Energy Units or Looped Water Units that are touching team equipment directly. Units that are not touching team equipment directly will still score.
And Equipment is defined as:Equipment includes everything teams bring to the match, such as the robot, any attachments or accessories, and the team’s Innovation Project model. This section explains what the robot and its accessories can be built from.Since the innovation model counts as team equipment, I believe any energy units touching it would not score.

One more question!
On the various tasks when the rule says that energy units must be within the area, unless specifically called out, does it count if the energy unit is on the robot or another piece of equipment at the end of the match and are not touching the mat?
For example, for placing the innovation model in the center, if the energy units are loaded on to the innovation model, but not touching the mat.
Thanks so much!Scott
