So the only thing I can come up with is that they will allow an app that is in the CHROME web store, but not the Play Store.

Android apps are not supported in our Chrome environment since they are not specifically written for the Chrome OS.  Additionally the Android apps are not compliant with FERPA.  This is unfortunate that LEGO is no longer providing a Chrome OS app.
