Does the middle school piece have to be nonfiction? You can use Mary Grim's story "We" to begin discussion of the private/public sphere distinction. I like to start feminism lesson plans with a contemporary reading from the newspaper and compare it to a historical piece from the suffrage movement. Good luck!
