Join
PAL-C in a National Day of Advocacy
Bringing Our Voices to Our Leaders
The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) is
organizing a National Pakistani American Community Advocacy Day on the Hill
in Washington, D.C. on February 26, 2009
in partnership with several other Pakistani-American organizations
including:
Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA)
Pakistani American Public Affairs Committee (PAKPAC)
Pakistani American Congress (PAC)
Association of Pakistani Professionals (AOPP)
Association of Pakistani Scientists and Engineers of North America (APSENA)

Friends of Pakistan (FOP)
The Pakistani American Council of Texas (PACT)

PAL-C believes it is important for our Members of Congress to have all
the facts, and to hear from Pakistani Americans their thoughts on the
issues.

Day on the Hill on 7:30 AM - 4PM Feb 26th, 2009

Shuttles for Capitol Hill will leave at 7:00 AM from the Crystal City
Marriott.
(Shuttle is only for people staying at hotel. Local residents should come
directly).
Action Item: It is crucial to the
success of the National Day of Advocacy that after registering yourself,
you set up personal meetings with your two Senators and
your Congressional Representative during
the day (February 26) at their offices and to request that they attend
either the Breakfast or Lunch Reception where they will be able to address
the entire gathering.
You can set up these meetings by calling 202-224-3121
and the operator will connect you to your Representative. When you are
connected to your Representative's office, identify yourself as a
constituent and state your request. You will likely be directed to your
Representatives "Scheduler" (the office staff assistant who is in
charge of the Representative's schedule).
If the Member is unable to meet with you, you can then ask to meet with
the Chief of Staff or the Member's Foreign Affairs Legislative Aide.
Oftentimes, meetings with these staffers are just as important as meeting
with the Member themselves.
If you require further assistance with the process we would be happy to
assist you at the PAL-C office. You can reach us by phone at 202-675-2004
or by e-mail at
[log in to unmask].
We have already secured appointments with 35
Members of Congress and with your help we hope to reach over
75 Members. To borrow a phrase: Yes We Can!
