Dear FEAST, It is with great pleasure that we announce the new team of officers for the Eastern Division of the Society for Women in Philosophy (ESWIP). All officers will serve a three-year term already in effect from September 1, 2009-September 1, 2012. Please notice that based on the current officer duties in ESWIP, we found it necessary to increase the number of primary officers by one and add a team of supporting officers to address current projects and initiatives in the organization. We would like to thank all of the new officers for their willingness to serve the organization. Sincerely, Jen McWeeny (former ESWIP Executive Secretary 2006-2009) Lisa Cassidy (former ESWIP Treasurer 2006-2009) New ESWIP Officers (2009-2012) Primary Officers: Executive Secretary: Maeve O' Donovan <[log in to unmask]> Maeve received her Ph.D. in philosophy from Boston College in 2004, where she wrote a dissertation on Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex. She is currently Assistant Professor of Philosophy at College of Notre Dame of Maryland, in Baltimore, Maryland. Her current research works to integrate insights from feminist epistemology, analytic philosophy of mind, and disability studies. Treasurer: Lisa Yount <[log in to unmask]> Lisa is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Savannah State University. She received her Ph.D. in philosophy, as well as a graduate certificate in Women's Studies from the University of Oregon in 2006. Her areas of specialization include feminist philosophy, social and political philosophy, and she has a growing interest in the philosophy of history. Philosophy of Art, Black Feminist Thought, Philosophy of Film, Social and Political Philosophy, Ethics, and Critical Thinking are some of the recent courses she has taught. Annual Spring Meeting Coordinator: Robin James <[log in to unmask]> Robin is Assistant Professor in the Philosophy Department at University of North Carolina, Charlotte. Her research engages contemporary continental philosophy with musicology and popular music studies, feminist theory, and critical race/postcolonial theory. Some of her recent articles include "Autonomy, Universality, and Playing the Guitar: on non-ideal theory and using the 'master's tools'" in Hypatia, "Robo-Diva R&B" in The Journal of Popular Music Studies, and "In but not of, of but not in: taste, hipness, and white embodiment" in Contemporary Aesthetics. Supporting Officers: Assistant Treasurer: Lisa Wilkinson <[log in to unmask]> Lisa is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Interim Program Director for Gender Studies at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. She recently published the monograph Parmenides and To Eon with Continuum (2009). Her teaching responsibilities include Feminist Theories, Philosophies of Race and Gender, Philosophies of Art, and French Feminisms. Junior Scholar and Graduate Student Initiatives: Marlisa Moschella <[log in to unmask]> Marlisa is a Ph.D. student in philosophy at SUNY Binghamton. She received an M.A. in philosophy from University of Colorado at Boulder. Her interests include Feminist Philosophy, Ethics, Philosophy of Race, and Asian Philosophy. Marlisa's current research involves the moral assessment of emotions in a global context. Historian: Nicole Garner <[log in to unmask]> Nicole Garner is an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at Notre Dame College in Cleveland, Ohio. She received her M. A. in philosophy from Cleveland Sate University in 2009. Her research interests are in the areas of epistemology, French Existentialism, French literature, Latina feminism, LGTB studies, and the usefulness of biography in the study of resistance to oppression. She is currently writing a book on the phenomenology of poverty and the embodiment of absence in the work of Violette Leduc. New Officer Recruitment: Lisa Rivera <[log in to unmask]> Lisa Rivera is Assistant Professor at UMass, Boston. Her research focuses on feminist philosophy, ethics, global ethics, and political philosophy.
