Good afternoon VA/DC Jr.FLL,

I am writing to update everyone about a slight change to our email list and to let you know about some planned - and potential - Jr.FLL events to be held in conjunction with FLL tournaments this fall.  I also wanted to draw your attention to some updates to the Jr.FLL section of the VA/DC FLL website.

List Update:

You may have noticed that the list we have been using was VADCJFLL-L, which reflects the original shortened name of the Junior FLL program (JFLL).  Last season Junior FLL officially became Jr.FLL when abbreviated and we have updated the list to reflect that name (VADCJRFLL-L).  You do not need to take any action to switch lists as the move has already been made for all users.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.

Jr.FLL Events:

This year there will be a Jr.FLL Expo at the FLL championship tournament in Harrisonburg, Virginia on Saturday, December 5th.  More details regarding this event, registration, etc. will be made available via this list and the website in the coming weeks.

Also this year we have been given the opportunity to hold Expos at a number of the VA/DC FLL regional qualifying tournaments during the weekends of November 7th and 14th.  I am still checking with all of the tournament directors regarding space availability and I will update this group regarding tournaments with the potential to hold a Jr.FLL event.  In addition to the availability of space, we will need someone from the Jr.FLL community to step up to organize an event in order to schedule something in conjunction with the FLL tournaments.  If you are willing to organize an event in your area (I will help provide materials beyond the Event Guide provided by FIRST), or would just like more information, please contact me off the list.

Jr.FLL on the VA/DC FLL website:

As any of you who have visited the Jr.FLL section of the VA/DC FLL website recently knows, the content it contained was wildly out of date.  As of earlier this week the page has been updated to reflect the dates and points of interest relevant for the Smart Move season.  Please check it out at http://www.vadcfll.org/junior_league.html if you have any questions and to keep abreast of program updates.

We have more than 50 Jr.FLL teams registered in Virginia and DC and I hope to see many of your teams in action over the course of the season!
