TheDepartment of Political Science at the University of Dayton is seeking avisiting assistant professor in human rights for its multidisciplinary BA in Human Rights Studies. The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal. The position is open as to discipline.

    A PhD or equivalent degree is preferred. A Master’s Degree or ABD-statusis required. The successful applicant should have a clear research and teaching agenda that focuses on critical issues related to human rights in a global context, such as global health, economic and human development, peace and conflict resolution, humanitarian intervention, and/or transitional justice. Those with a comparative or regional focus,especially in the Middle East, Africa, East or Southeast Asia, or LatinAmerica, are encouraged to apply. The department also welcomes applicants working at the intersections of human rights and social justice, religion, gender, social movements, or media. Innovative pedagogies and experience teaching and advising students of diverse backgrounds are pluses.

    Responsibilities will include teaching introductory and upper-level courses in human rights studies. There may be opportunities to develop new courses. The successful applicant also will assist with academic andinternship advising.
