Call for Abstracts
Submission Deadline:  March 31st, 2011
 
The Eastern Division of the Society for Women in Philosophy invites submissions for its annual conference. This year's theme's is the state of the profession; the goal is to undertake a critical analysis of the current status=  of professional philosophy, particularly with respect to the issues faced = by women, minorities, and other marginalized groups. Topics may include (but are certainly not limited to) issues with respect to publishing, teaching= , tenure, promotion, hiring practices, graduate and undergraduate education= , administration, the current fiscal crisis, unionization of academic labor= , research funding, etc.
 
As such, we invite you to submit extended abstracts (of approximately 1,000  words) for presentation. In addition, submissions that address the general topics of feminist theory/practice or women's studies from any disciplinary approach will receive full consideration.  We also welcome panel proposal= s. ESWIP strives to provide scholars from all academic ranks and discipline= s with a highly supportive professional community.
 
Submission Guidelines:
        Paper Abstracts
      1. Extended abstracts should be approximately 1,000 words, and geared towards a presentation of 25-30 minutes.
      2. Abstracts should be accompanied by a title page including: a)Author's name, b)Academic status and affiliation, c)Contact information (e-mail address preferably) and d) A shorter, 150 word abstract (to be used for the program and quick reference)
 
      Panel Proposals
1.Panel proposals should include a brief, general description (approx. 250 words) of the general topic of the panel, as well as a brief description (approx. 250 words) of each paper to presented as part of the panel.
2.Please limit each panel to 3 participants.
3.We kindly request two separate documents: one containing the above descriptions, prepared for blind review (that is, without any panelist information, containing just the titles and descriptions), and one containing all of the above information as well as the information listed in the above instructions (i.e., name, affiliation, contact info, etc.) for each panelist.
