Hello all.  Jennifer Benson, here.  I'm Exec. Secretary for Midwest SWIP.

The fall 2011 meeting for Midwest SWIP will be held November 4-6, at Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois.  Keep an eye out for the official CFP.

We would welcome presentations and workshop proposals exploring and/or celebrating the work and impact of Ruddick.  Certainly the tape of Sally could be included.  Our Program Committee for the fall conference includes Crista Lebens ([log in to unmask]) and Jeanine Weekes Schroer ([log in to unmask]).  Please do offer submissions.

Best,
Jennifer

I doubt if it is possible to organize something on such short notice, but maybe Midwest SWIP can do a showing of the tape of Sally?  I don't know who heads up that SWIP and I am not going so I have no idea what the program looks like.  I think we should plan something for next year though.

many thanks to Eva and Hilde, and loving thoughts to Joan.

Sally is so vividly in my mind; the loss is enormous. It is so hard to believe that she is no longer with us, partly, of course, because her work and words and spirit will always be with us. She has made such a difference for so many of us.

Does anyone know if/how it might be possible to do something at the Central APA next week?

Dear Ones,

I am probably the natural pick to organize a session on Sally at FEAST.  However, my partner has been diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer and, at best, we are looking at chemo through the fall, followed by surgery, followed by radiation.  Given this, I’m not making any new commitments at this time and ask that others please step forward to set up sessions for Sally at FEAST and the various APA meetings.

I can make available a DVD of Sally’s interview for the Feminist Philosophers film project to anyone who wants to include clips in a session.

Joan
