Pending approval by its Board of Trustees, the Philosophy Department at Saint Joseph’s University (Philadelphia, PA)  will be recruiting for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin in August 15, 2012.   AOS:  Ethics;  AOC: Applied Ethics.  Three undergraduate courses, typically two preps, per semester;  advising and committee duties;  opportunities for teaching in honors and service-learning programs.  Strong evidence of Ph.D. completion by August 15, 2012 is required.  Candidates should be prepared to teach multiple sections of our core course, “Moral Foundations,” as well as introductory-level courses in either one of our two additional core areas:  Philosophical Anthropology;  Faith and Reason. Essential:  a commitment to undergraduate teaching; and the ability to contribute to the mission of a Jesuit Catholic University in a deliberately diverse [and feminist friendly] department.  Candidates must demonstrate evidence of effective teaching and the promise of an active scholarly agenda.  Salary competitive.
