On the weekend we are hosting the Midwest U.S. division of SWIP there happens to be a home football game, which makes staying in Oxford even more difficult. Fortunately the city of Hamilton, Ohio is just a 20 minute drive from the university where we have reserved a block of rooms at the Courtyard Marriott Hamilton at $89 a night. To make reservations at the Marriott online follow this link: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/cvgha-courtyard-hamilton/?toDate=11/11/12&groupCode=swiswiq&fromDate=11/9/12&app=resvlink Alternately, you can call (513) 896-6200 to make a reservation. Be sure to mention that you are with the Midwest SWIP conference to get the $89 rate. Reservations must be made by October 15, 2012 in order to receive the $89 rate. In addition there are a limited number of options for staying with Miami University community members (graduate students and faculty), some within walking distance of Miami and some that require driving. Conference attendees interested in this option should contact Gaile Pohlhaus, Jr. at [log in to unmask] no later than October 15, 2012 so that there is enough time to make arrangements. Directions By Car All events will take place in the Great Room (room 212) of MacMillan Hall at Miami University. For driving directions to MacMillan Hall: http://goo.gl/maps/EZ357 For driving directions to the Hamilton Marriott Courtyard: http://goo.gl/maps/4IP10 By Air The closest airport to Miami University is the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG), which is approximately 45 miles from the university and 38 miles from the Courtyard Marriott in Hamilton. Transportation from the airport is limited to rental car and a shuttle service with Executive Transportation http://www.executivetransportation.org/Airport.aspx A shuttle to the hotel (which is closer than the university) runs $86 each way, but can be split with up to seven people. As with past conferences where there was limited transportation from the nearest airport, we will maintain a bulletin board on our website where conference attendees can coordinate transportation sharing to and from the airport and between the university and the hotel. If you will be attending the conference and either need transportation or can help with transportation, please post on our bulletin board at: http://blogs.uww.edu/midwestswip/category/ride-board/ Please note that the bulletin board is a public board. If you have concerns about privacy, you might wish to limit the amount of contact info you post on the board (e.g. post an email address for initial contact and exchange phone numbers via individual private email).
