I once coached FLL at a middle school. We got so many kids wanting to be a part of it that we turned it into a year-round club. Kids paid dues (I think it was $40 then), and we kept a points chart. Those with the most points got to be part of the competition teams. The dues money covered the costs for the teams; the number of teams determined by the money.
As to topics, I had a science teacher handling the meetings. He came up with challenges each meeting. I remember one was using a ramp (actually an old slide) to teach the kids about center of gravity. Other activities involved teaching the various sensors, programming, etc.
I honestly don't remember how often we met, but it was in line with all other school clubs at the time.

This year was my third year coaching a FLL Team and each year I would like to continue the program throughout the year but donít. This year we have decided that we would really like to make a go of it. I wanted to know if other teams meet throughout the year and if so how often does the team meet and do you have a schedule of topics that you can share?
