We're fortunate to have another tenure track hire this year - it is fully approved and funded. We would love some wonderful women candidates! Ours is a highly collegial, supportive and engaged department - small but growing - and interested in experimenting with pedagogy and interdisciplinary teaching and research. We have about 160 majors in our thriving undergraduate program, a deep commitment to General Education, and to the liberal arts broadly understood. We have an established Ethics Center, which hosts our visiting lecture series and annual Ethics Symposium. We also have the annual Nammour Symposium which brings scholars from various disciplines together to do a little public philosophy.

California State University, Sacramento: Assistant Professor, tenure-track, beginning Fall 2014.
AOS: Ethics, especially Public Health Policy;
AOC: Science and Values, or Values and Technology.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Philosophy; ABD may apply, degree must be completed by August 2014. Normal teaching duties include four courses per semester at the undergraduate level, primarily in the areas of specialization and competence. Candidates will be expected to have an active research program and are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence in Philosophy. Candidates with an interest in or experience developing and teaching high quality online courses will be preferred.

In addition to contributing to teaching in the programmatic core, the person hired for this position will contribute to meeting the department's increasing demand for its courses in Bioethics and in Science and Human Values.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the University's Center for Practical and Professional Ethics, be able to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds, and to contribute to the life of the university and community.
