I very much agree with Nick Swayne -- call Mindstorms tech support:

We had the screen failure (see my panicked forum entries from two weeks ago) and they sent a replacement -- no hassle and it shipped the same day. They estimated that it would be 3 days but it turned out to be 4 business days (shipped from Kansas to Virginia). I was very happy with the process and the results.
The support tech said they have had relatively few calls about the EV3 and seemed genuinely surprised I was having an issue with such new hardware.
