Welcome back! The faculty of the College of Health and Behavioral Studies hope you had an incredible break and you we wish you a wonderful new year! As we begin 2014, here are some things to think about: 37 Things Dying People Say They Regret<http://www.viralnova.com/regret-when-older/>.

Spring 2014 Registration
Here are some important dates to remember:

* Monday, January 13. Spring semester begins.

* Monday, January 20, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. Classes do not meet.

* Tuesday, January 21. Last day to drop a semester or first-block class without receiving a "W."

* Tuesday, January 21. Last day to add a semester or first-block class without special permission.
Additional enrollment deadlines are available online<http://www.jmu.edu/registrar/spring_comp.shtml>. Remember that permission to enroll (an override) does not automatically register you for the class. You must still add the class using MyMadison.
Want to take a spring-semester class that has been closed? Many classes were full during registration, and may still be full during the first few days of the semester, become available during the next few days as students drop classes. Check MyMadison regularly and if space becomes available, add classes for which you have the prerequisites. It is a frustrating reality that many high-demand classes will actually have a few spaces available at the end of registration because seats have been reserved by students who drop the class immediately prior to the deadline. Keep looking through January 21!
Fall Opportunity Still Available: Adapted Physical Education/Adapted Physical Activity (KIN 429/515). This class provides students with hands-on experience working with children, adolescents and adults in the areas of adapted aquatics, fitness, dance, sports and games, and inclusive outdoor recreation. This course is available to students in all majors; undergraduate and graduate sections available. Meets Wednesdays 4-6:40 PM and an additional meeting on Saturday, April 26. For more information contact Dr. Moran ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>; 568-4877). Enrollment is limited so register soon!

What are you doing this summer?
Now is the time to make plans to do things that will contribute to your education and life-goals. Here are some options:
Does going to Spain in May sound good? Consider a Short-Term Study Abroad course to Spain! There are still a few open spots in the "Health Care in Spain: A Cross-cultural Exploration of Illness and Wellness" course to Tarragona, Spain. Dates are 5/18 - 6/11. This is a 4 credit course that includes a 2-week clinical internship with Spanish healthcare professionals. This course will benefit you as a future healthcare professional through learning basic clinical skills and strengthening your Spanish language ability. This experience is open to ALL majors. The clinical/practical component of this class can count as the practical component of the Medical Spanish minor. For more information, please email Erika Metzler Sawin ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>) and visit the trip website<http://www.jmu.edu/international/abroad/programs/jmu-spain-tarragona-nursing.shtml>.
