The Department of Philosophy and Religion in the College of Arts and
Sciences at American University invites applications for a one-year term
faculty appointment for Academic Year 2015-2016. Rank will be Professorial
Lecturer with a specialization in global ethics, applied ethics, and peace
studies. This appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence
on August 31, 2015, pending final budgetary approval.

Applicants with interests in related fields such as human rights,
philosophy of law, social and political philosophy, and religious studies
are encouraged. Qualified candidates must have a PhD by August 2015, and
provide evidence of strong teaching skills. The position will require the
incumbent to teach three courses per semester.  Responsibilities include
teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising students, and
participating in department, college, and university service activities.
