Dear FEAST-L Members,

I'm writing to circulate information on the 2015 Jonathan Safran Foer
Virtual Classroom Visit. We're still accepting participants in all sessions
of this year's event, and are also open to participation from individuals
and organizations within and beyond academia (as well as participation from
college and high school classes). Please see the letter below for details
on the event, and feel free to email me with any questions or comments.
Thanks!

Best,

Joey Tuminello

College and High School Educators:

Please consider this invitation to *bring the critically acclaimed novelist
Jonathan Safran Foer into your classrooms* to discuss his international
bestseller, *Eating Animals* <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.eatinganimals.com_&d=BQIFaQ&c=eLbWYnpnzycBCgmb7vCI4uqNEB9RSjOdn_5nBEmmeq0&r=Oo4TCJF8pXcsWPDC7Sy8bdP2IJ6ZbST0v2xdYtuNH80&m=-VF_a8kL7miIIPkwssFGziJQxKSyTbwey75Ak3c-EpQ&s=ZwGm7hhSUp2kHp-eg3K02wvrZ8eu4lSAkgasYZunGDY&e= >. *Reserve now
for Fall 2015. Limited space is available for this complimentary program.*

Set in the context of a larger journey of exploration, *Eating
Animals* presents
what many consider the most important popular critique of industrial
farming. As part of our broader educational efforts, *Farm Forward*
<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.farmforward.com_&d=BQIFaQ&c=eLbWYnpnzycBCgmb7vCI4uqNEB9RSjOdn_5nBEmmeq0&r=Oo4TCJF8pXcsWPDC7Sy8bdP2IJ6ZbST0v2xdYtuNH80&m=-VF_a8kL7miIIPkwssFGziJQxKSyTbwey75Ak3c-EpQ&s=AXj7Y3rI3V8G3JvC05OerIEEefgof1FmwDic8FhCotc&e= >, a national nonprofit organization, is
covering all costs of this program for educators who discuss *Eating
Animals* in their courses.

Foer’s first two books, *Everything is Illuminated* and *Extremely Loud &
Incredibly Close*, have both been made into major motion pictures and,
while highly regarded for their literary merit, are also popular with the
college demographic. *Kirkus Reviews* called *Eating Animals* “wholly
compelling” and the *LA Times* argues that it offers a wisdom “that, in all
its humanity and clarity, deserves a place at the table with our greatest
philosophers.” In recent years both Duke University and University of North
Carolina, Chapel Hill made it required reading for their incoming freshman
class. The most frequent comment we hear from educators who use *Eating
Animals* is “I’ve never had such great classroom discussion!”

*On October 27, 2015, Jonathan Safran Foer will make a number of virtual
classroom visits to discuss Eating Animals, using professional webinar
technology.* See further details below.

Because *Eating Animals* looks at the consumption of animals from a variety
of perspectives, *it has been used successfully in a wide range of academic
fields, including Business, English, Environmental Studies, Philosophy,
Public Policy, and Religious Studies.*

This year, in addition to Jonathan's 8 virtual visit sessions, Dr. Aaron
Gross and Joey Tuminello of Farm Forward will be leading 4 additional
sessions. In addition to their advocacy work at Farm Forward, Aaron teaches
at the University of San Diego and Joey teaches at the University of North
Texas. While Jonathan will not be present at these 4 sessions (see below
for listings), Aaron worked closely with Jonathan on *Eating Animals* and
is featured in it (check out pages 233-237)!

Please consider passing this email on, and don’t hesitate to contact me
with further questions at the email below.

Sincerely,

Joey Tuminello

*Additional Information*

From 10:00am – 6:50pm (Eastern Time), there will be 12 available sessions
to choose from. Each session will consist of a 15-minute presentation by
Foer, followed by a 20-minute Q&A session. *Sessions 3,10,11, and 12 will
be led by Dr. Aaron Gross and Joey Tuminello from Farm Forward, and Foer
will not be present at these four sessions.* While multiple classrooms will
be included in each time slot, there is limited space and high demand is
anticipated. With this in mind, we encourage all interested educators
to *schedule
their classroom visit from Foer as soon as possible. Instructors can sign
their classes up for a session by visiting our **sign-up page*
