position provides for direct clinical services to students, sharing the
24-hour on-call coverage throughout the year and participating in
activities, programming, and planning that ensures the effective and
efficient delivery of services to students. Actively supports and
enacts the department’s strong outreach and psycho educational efforts.
Contributes creatively to the construction of innovative techniques,
strategies, and interventions, which support the emotional/psychological
health of students. This clinician must be available as a consultant
resource to the college community regarding emotional or psychological
health issues. This is a temporary position with a current anticipated end date of May 31, 2017.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· Provide clinical treatment to students primarily in the form of individual and some group psychotherapy;
· Share
24-hour on-call coverage, which includes coordination of emergency,
hospitalization and medication referral/consultation as needed;
· Maintain complete and up-dated client records on specific forms provided within the counseling center;
· Conduct support and educational groups, workshops, campus-wide forums, classroom and dorm presentations as required;
· Participate in campus staff and student group training (PEP) as needed;
· Participate
in planning, programming and other activities that contribute to the
smooth functioning and growth of the department;
· Provide frequent updates to the Director on clinical work and any programs or projects under her/his charge;
· Schedule
individual supervision with the Director on a twice monthly basis to
discuss cases. Also consult frequently with Director during crisis
intervention as needed;
· Serve on committees and participate in other activities within the Division of Student Affairs as requested;
· Include the possibility of supervising one or two graduate student interns.
Our ideal candidate profile will include:Master’s
Degree in social work, counseling/mental health, or related mental
health field and 3-5 years of related experience required. Must be a
Georgia licensed mental health practitioner (Licensed Psychologist,
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker
(LCSW). Experience in college/university mental health services or
administration preferred.
Master’s
Degree in Social Work and two years of broad treatment experience and a
minimum of four years strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention,
and individual and group therapy experience are required. PhD in Social
Work, Clinical Psychology or related mental health field, two years
supervisory experience, and experience in a college or university
setting are preferred.
This
position requires knowledge of systems approaches, women’s issues, and
race and ethnicity issues. Incumbent should be particularly strong in
working with African-American women. The duties of this position
require someone who has demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge, and
understanding of a diverse population. The incumbent should be self-
motivated, have high ethical standards, and be flexible in schedules and
methods. This position requires the ability to work with minimum
supervision.
This position
requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific
and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. The
incumbent should be able to respond to common inquiries or complaints
from students, faculty, staff, parents, regulatory agencies, or members
of the general community. This position also requires the ability to
effectively present information to administrators, faculty and the
President.
To perform this job
successfully, an individual must have beginner skills using Microsoft
Office Suite (Power Point, Word, and Excel) to produce correspondence,
memos, e-mails, and maintain client records.
