Lecturer in Philosophy of Ethics
The Department of Philosophy at The University of Rhode Island invites applications for a Lecturer position beginning Fall 2017. Position is limited to 06/23/2018 with extension contingent upon performance and funding approval.
The University of Rhode Island is located in the historic village of Kingston, 25 miles south of Providence and only minutes from the ocean and Narragansett Bay. Other cultural centers such as Boston and New York are easily accessible. The University has nearly 15,000 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students. For Fall 2017, the Philosophy Department will have 8 tenure-track faculty, 1 joint appointment tenure-track faculty member, and 3 lecturers. It will offer an undergraduate B.A. program with two tracks: Philosophy and Philosophy & Religious Studies.
The lecturer to be hired will teach the introductory course in ethics, an upper level course in Ethical Problems in Society and Medicine, and other courses as needed by the department. The lecturer will teach a total of 12 credits per semester, typically in the form of 4 three-credit courses.
