Thank you, Diana, for letting us know. Kate was so enormously important in shaping second wave feminism. I met her first in New York, through my beloved Barnard professor Sue Larson, and I remember seeing her sculptures in the Women's Building in LA later in the '70s: life-sized soft fleshy women pushing shopping carts and otherwise domestically entangled. Much later I saw her when she came to St. Paul to visit her mother and got in touch with Women's Studies. I remember a wonderful lunch with her and Trish Hampl, which I arranged so that I could be a fly on the wall as they shared memories of Catholic girlhoods in St. Paul. And then in 2014 the University of Minnesota awarded her an honorary doctorate: https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__uawards.umn.edu_&d=DwIFaQ&c=eLbWYnpnzycBCgmb7vCI4uqNEB9RSjOdn_5nBEmmeq0&r=HUp8-bkYMlNgd3ZJBxWBKsBsFAFGHrEZg21p9gxugJA&m=O0xd_jIhxIbFyw4SQZfHkb3hK1B2PHRYXv9Tq4okjGI&s=Oswo8I6UwS2mITap8G9ivBjPXMSXWOQ3GqDtjJb1OQI&e= honorary-degree-recipients/kate-millett <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__uawards.umn.edu_honorary-2Ddegree-2Drecipients_kate-2Dmillett&d=DwMFaQ&c=eLbWYnpnzycBCgmb7vCI4uqNEB9RSjOdn_5nBEmmeq0&r=HUp8-bkYMlNgd3ZJBxWBKsBsFAFGHrEZg21p9gxugJA&m=vgDPwx05qwIQva4zs15epc8dG0Ks8us6sKgIMYNVrlw&s=8UCgNzqL1LfGHy9DuEruKnMvAeik0rqaygwAZ_bjukQ&e=> . naomi *Naomi SchemanProfessor of Philosophy and Gender, Women, & Sexuality Studies (GWSS)Affiliate faculty, Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change (ICGC)University of MinnesotaPhilosophy Department--271 19th Ave. S., Minneapolis MN 55455* *[log in to unmask] <[log in to unmask]>* ############################ To unsubscribe from the FEAST-L list: write to: mailto:[log in to unmask] or click the following link: http://listserv.jmu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=FEAST-L&A=1
