Hi Jason, In response to the exchange about MMT and international exchange, I am aware that MMT is a definitional system and that MMT economists have considered international currency implications. I shared that because I did consider and review some issues that were raised along those lines. But I am going to punt on the issue because, unfortunately, I just don’t have enough technical knowledge to really have an informed opinion. I never took a formal economics course, and only have taken Econ 101 in my car. Of all the social sciences, I am most woefully uniformed about economic theory. For example, if I read Paul Krugman’s critiques of MMT<https://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/08/15/mmt-again/>, and then explore the replies, I don’t know enough to have an opinion. As you know, I did try to engage Mossler on a discussion on MMT, but I never heard back from him. Switching gears to your point here about psychologists and helping to sooth the current antagonisms, I was JUST preaching this point to my personality class. We reviewed culture and then evolutionary approaches to personality and I used to Google/Damore Memo as an example (which I blogged about here<https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/theory-knowledge/201708/in-depth-analysis-the-crisis-google>) to say that we psychologists need to help people see through the chaos.
