We're looking for one FLL and one FLL Jr team to represent the FLL/FLL Jr programs at a "Lunch & Learn" informational event at the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) in Alexandria on Monday, July 30.
Attending this event is a great way for your team to showcase your team's work and practice your FIRST Core Values. Please reply to this message ASAP if you are able to attend this event on July 30. Details about this event is noted below.
EVENT: FIRST Programs Showcase at USPTO
VENUE: USPTO's Madison Building, Lower Atrium
ADDRESS: 600 Dulany St., Alexandria, VA
DATE: Monday, July 30, 2018
TIME: 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
Teams can arrive as early as 10:00 am for load-in/set-up. Teams do not have to go through security.
Each FIRST program will get one display table to setup as you wish. Bring your EV3 robot/LEGO WeDo model and team posters. There will be no FLL table. Your EV3 robot will be most likely static as there will be no ample floor space to move it safely. FLL Jr LEGO models can be either static or moving. Access to electrical outlets and WiFi will be provided.
Be prepared to talk about your FIRST program and your team's work (both technical and non-technical). Promote FIRST by inviting visitors to upcoming events that your FIRST program/FIRST team will be involved in. Encourage visitors to volunteer as team mentors/coaches or at FIRST events.
PARKING:
Temporary parking for load-in will be at the Eisenhower entrance. There are some paid street parking. There's ample parking in the East and West garages next to Madison for $10 a day. Venue is also walking distance from the King Street Metro Station in Alexandria.
FOOD:
Lunch will not be provided. There's a cafe in the Madison Buidling and many food shops/restaurants within walking distance from the building. Since this purpose of this event is to interact with USPTO employees during their lunch break, the recommendation is for participating FIRST teams to have lunch either before or after the event.
