I looked online and noticed Mercier was also a post-doc at the University of Pennsylvania where you were an assistant professor for a stint. Not sure if that's relevant, but quite a coincidence!

The situation is even worse. I then discovered that PRIOR to my contacting Hugo Mercier in Sept of 2013, he was first author on a Apr 2013 article (The place of evolved cognition in scientific thinking) that cited Keith Stanovich’s 2004 commentary on my work. As you will see, Stanovich’s commentary includes my name in the title of the citation and starts off in the first paragraph with a clear comment about the Justification Hypothesis, and its relevance to the human animal divide and the concept of metarepresentation. If he read it with any seriousness (which, of course, you are supposed to have done if you cite it), he would have to have wondered what Stanovich is referring to. This is especially the case given that he is interested in how humans reason as a function of justification and that they are also interested in metarepresentation (it occupies a whole chapter in their book).
So this suggests he knew about me before I contacted him and thus feigned ignorance of my work even then. Or he is clueless to a literally unbelievable degree.

So in 2013, you had email exchanges with Mercier about the similarities between the JH and his Argumentative Theory. Mercier said the JH "was a very interesting read!", and thanked you for "sending the papers"
Mercier in 2018: "I can assure you that neither of us had ever heard of [Dr. Henriques] or his hypothesis"
