Jenny, Having served a a judge in 4 regional tournaments, plus coaching for three seasons, I can relate my experience. During the 5 minute presentation plus the 5 minute q&a that follows, there is not much time to review an engineering manual. If the students present it to the judges at the judging session (either project or robot/technical) the judges have it to review later when they are comparing the competing teams’ Solutions. Any notes or binder left behind can be retrieved after the tournament. As a judge, I appreciated the work and did at times review the binder if there was a close decision between two teams. As a coach, I used it to help keep the team focused, and gave every team member a way to show their contribution to the solution. My teams were complemented by the judges for their documentation, and we were invited to two State Championships. I highly recommend it. Thank you so much! It has helped to see what everyone is experiencing and to get such valuable advice each week. > > I have a quick question on the Engineering Notebook. Our team has done so much research between the project/mission/etc, but they’ve done it with our own team question sheets week by week, with their printouts of research for the project, their programming notes, etc. They will have it in their own Engineering Binder to share in their judging rooms (not the exact one from the FLL website). > > Is that okay that they have their own? > Do the judges keep this Engineering Binder? > Do the kids take it to certain judging rooms? > Do the judges want to keep the binder? > > Just wanted to be prepared so we can gauge 1 binder or if we needed to make copies, based on what they have? > > Thanks! > Jenny Scott > Co-Coach of the Foxtronauts > > > To UNSUBSCRIBE or CHANGE your settings, please visit https://listserv.jmu.edu/archives/vadcfll-l.html and select "Join or leave the list". > VADCFLL administrative announcements are sent via VADCFLL-ANNOUNCEMENTS-L.
