Gregg:

Thanks for the book referral.
I have added it to my (rather lengthy) reading list.

I did read and have thought a lot about the excerpt - which I enjoyed.

I do wish to share one concern.
The author refers to “the moral mandate” which implies the importance of a singular ethical system.
Not having read the book, I don’t know which ethical system it is to which he refers.
Although, I suspect it is the judeo-christian, european, western world system.

While I agree with the concept of “moral mandate,” it is important to recognize multiple ethical systems influence human behavior.
And, that they are not strictly identical - though, they share important confluences of thought.

Surely, avoiding the chaos which currently surrounds us will require finding, clarifying, and applying those important confluences.
The Constitution (of the US) seems a well-suited mechanism by which to instantiate those confluences broadly.

Which seems to be an important role of The TOK Society.

Best regards,

Waldemar
