Hi TOK Society List,
I just wanted to let folks know this afternoon I had a great exchange with John Vervaeke (ccing him here). He is fast becoming a “rock star” in several domains I have been following, and he is popping up everywhere on podcasts and talks.
I have mentioned him in
several blogs in regards to the “meaning crisis” (see here for his series). He is working on an integrated vision for the mind and how we might be more generative in
our lives. I shared with him some of my thoughts re
CALM MO and how that affords us an easy to use, evidence and principled based frame for adaptively processing distress and conflict.
After I got off the phone with him, I was looking around and found this TEDx Talk:

I am writing to share it here, as it is a great summary of the fragmented nature of the academy regarding how we approach the mind via different paradigms and need a way to put it back together. I hope folks on this list will be able to
hear these pieces and see how the big picture view of science and the academy afforded by the ToK System is the kind of frame necessary to see the mind as a whole scientifically and then place it in relation to our lives humanistically.
Best,
Gregg
PS. If you have not seen them, here are some blogs I have done on defining the mind, which I am guessing overlap greatly with John’s views:
A Unified Approach to Human Consciousness
