Thanks everyone. And great imagery and wording, Alexander, in regard to the types of "infrastructure" that would truly point us in the direction of a better future. Well said. Thanks again Gregg, Chance, and Alexander for sharing your insights, -joe

Subject: Re: Inspiring talk on justice, identity and compassion

Dear Gregg & Co

A society is only as civilized as its infrastructure investments.
And education and mentorships - the processes of adultification - are the investments in human infrastructure.
So rather than speaking of "justice" and "fairness" which are terms now steeped in social justice warrior ressentiment, why not speak of an infrastructure culture focused on radical meritocracy?
Otherwise we just end up in the same old squabbles over resources all over again, the divise poison that society is already full of.
I think infrastructure is a brilliant term. It points us all toward a shared and better future. And it is what governments rather than markets are supposed to do well.
Building sustainable roads and bridges, both physically, virtually and mentally.

Happy new year!

Hi List,

If you get a chance, I strongly recommend this 20 min TedTalk on justice and identity and compassion.

As someone who worked on the “mean streets” of Philadelphia for 4 years I can say that the structural issues facing the poor are brutal and unjust and we should be doing much more to cultivate an infrastructure that fosters growth rather than one that emphasizes punishment and control. I have huge respect for folks who devote their lives to these kinds of issues.

Best,
Gregg
