Lene: I am very much taken by the Bildung concept. In particular, I am interested in understanding the fundations of the concept - the benefits are abundantly clear! Accordingly, I have added your comments to mine, to produce a conceptualization of that upon which Bildung is founded: Bildung is founded upon: Education. Formal. Informal, such as: Existential knowledge: Everyday knowledge - interaction of the self with the world, such as: Cooking, riding a bicycle, using social media, cleaning, doing minor repairs, traffic rules, etc. Intersubjective knowledge: Social norms - interaction of the self with other/’s, such as: Dress codes, social etiquette, etc. Emotional maturity. Moral maturity. Please excuse my compulsion to classify - probably reflects my Germanic genes. If the opportunity to do so arises, I would very much appreciate any comments you might wish to share.
