Dear colleagues:

My new book, Anaesthetics of Existence: Essays on Experience at the Edge, just came out from Duke University Press. It will be launched on Friday, 5.30pm Mountain Time, with a Zoom discussion featuring comments from Jon Goldberg-Hiller, Lisa Guenther, and Catherine Clune-Taylor, followed by a short chat between me and Catherine Kellogg.

All and any feminist philosophers are welcome to attend! The book is an intervention into debates about the complex relation between lived experience and structural/historical analysis, and tries to think through the “edges” of experience—whether sexual violence against unconscious victims; the temporal demands of postdisciplinary society as they relate to everyday addiction; or the medical management versus the limit-experience of childbirth. The introduction is available open access on the book’s site.

All the best to you all:
