What role does mysticism play for a modern, well-developed person?
Each modern, well-developed person, I guess, would have to answer that question for his or herself, if such matters are of interest.
Since I'm not in the academy, and hence don't fear being canceled or disciplined within that context, I can speak freely, without the pressures of publish or perish, etc.
It's my understanding that mysticism isn't about propositional knowledge; it's about pragmatic and direct experience of the ineffable. Of experiencing the luminosity of numinosity and the numinosity of luminosity.
Of course, this strikes many as mumbo jumbo. Well, such materialist arrogance, in my opinion, keeps many stuck in modes of thinking that disallows the actual experience of what you call Deus.
But that's just my perspective; to each their own. Those who consider themselves "scientific," should perhaps experiment to have empirical substantiation of what sages and mystics have been speaking of for millenia.
