Interesting paper - I never saw the ideas in Freud’s biographical or autobiographical work, but what comes to mind suggests to me some split between the ways in which Freud and Jung emerged from the
conglomeration of influences @ that historical period and how it was reflected both in their childhood roots and seminal work on dreams - the Redbook is not the Interpretation of Dreams. also Freud’s Mother was his older Dad’s second wife - his Dad I think
spent a lot of time studying Talmud @ the temple when Freud was young. Jung’s mother came out of a more religious and nationalist family and historically religious background-unification of countries in Europe post Roman and German Empire and Protestant Reformation
and Peasants Revolt.
This is likely in part responsible for how they understood development, identity, and the role of experience in the development of consciousness. One closer to Julian Jaynes😳😉
These are very old associations - Most of what I read about the development of psychoanalysis and the followers was in the 1970s and during the Therapy Wars as my friend-colleague John Norcross dubbed
them. Kant is midway between enlightenment science of Freud and the more emotional semiotics of religious and tribal-national origins of Jung’s influences. Just some pre- coffee thoughts before work.
Best regards and thanks, Arnie
