I'm writing on behalf of the Board of Eastern SWIP:

Thanks to Quill and others for raising important questions about the
wording in the Call for Nominations for the 2021 Distinguished Woman
Philosopher Award.  The issues involved deserve careful and extended
discussion, and ought not to be decided on the fly.  Moreover, the DWP was
established and is awarded by SWIP as a whole; ESWIP simply administers the
award process.  We on the Board of ESWIP therefore consider that any
endorsement, elaboration, or replacement of the traditional wording should
be determined by SWIP as a whole.  We are endeavoring to convene a
discussion among representatives of the regional SWIP's to make this
determination.  In the meantime, however, since nominations have already
started arriving, we have decided to stick to the traditional wording for
this round. Thanks again to those whose questions have initiated this
important process.
