I listened to this today on my walk, really great talk on Mysticism. The two definitions that he gave are very good - "The Art of uniting with reality." and I would always stress his comment on it not being about escapism. I would also suggest that the process appears to be a uniting but in reality it is "unity awareness" in that you are already united, there is no where to go, no other to reach - non-duality. I think also this stress on *not escaping* is important for Spirituality and Mysticism while unity awareness is key to the Critique of Modernity/Academy since 1789 which is why I suggest that in a sense we have always been 'post modern' though I would phrase it as - OK, so we are Modern, NOW WHAT? The "now what" being critique and integration which is the project of Freedom for all, Democracy for all, recognition of the worth of all (women, indigenous, blacks, gays, trans), Open Society, and Multi-culturalism. Unity awareness and non-dualism also being why I am so against the Paradigm of Modern Academy/Physics (Standard Model particles, Big Bang et.al.), materialism, dualism, external God and all that brings separation; even 'woke' politics. The Integration and Integral thinking of Meta-Modernism being so very important now more than ever. Yet again another great Podcast, thank you for your work.
