TOK Folks might be interested in this announcement. I see McGilchrist’s work highly consonant with the UTOK vision and metamodern critique of the current chaotic fragmented pluralism that constitutes our knowledge and how we might move
to a more holistic, embodied coherent integrated pluralism. Without a doubt, the shift toward Modern Empirical Natural Science meant a shift into propositional, deductive knowledge. This, coupled with the collapse of the justification for two world view, generated
what Wilber rightly calls the “materialistic flatland” view. McGilchrist (and many others like John) is attempting to undo that view via a deep dive into the way the hemispheres process information, which he usefully frames in terms of apprehending and grasping
the specific versus comprehending the whole in context. This is a powerful and important set of insights.
Best,
Gregg
